Weekend 21MAY11

Mark 11:22-26 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

[TODAY IS] Armed Forces Day

By Alan Caruba
Saturday, May 21, is Armed Forces Day. Unless you are on active duty, a military family member, or a veteran, I suspect this is one national holiday that slips under the radar of most Americans.

Mark 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses

Blasphemy laws threaten North African Christians
Amid the political shifts in the North African countries of Egypt and Sudan, the laws against defaming Islam continue to threaten Christians in the countries.
Article 98(f) of Egyptian law, known to attorneys as the “contempt of religion” charge, is not officially an anti-blasphemy law. It is meant to discourage people from offending others’ religious sensitivities. In reality, however, it is reportedly used to stifle free speech and punish and intimidate those who do not subscribe to the standard, orthodox version of Sunni Islam practiced by most in Egypt. Violating this statute is known as having “defamed a heavenly religion.” Others have been charged under the statute with “insulting Islam.” By comparison, no convert from Christianity to Islam has ever been charged with Article 98(f) for defiling Christianity….

Two sisters are fighting to stand up for what they believe in, even if it means leaving everything they’ve worked for during the past eight years.

After discovering disturbing connections and curricula of Girl Scouts of the USA, Sydney and Tess Volanski decided to leave their beloved Girl Scout Troop after eight years of involvement, compelled not only to quit, but also to spread the truth about the highly acclaimed organization.

The two Houston siblings share their reasons for leaving in their recently launched site called “SPEAK NOW: girl scouts” and reveal several ways in which Girl Scouts has been promoting Planned Parenthood, promiscuity and abortion to their members.

Trusting that Girl Scouts was a wholesome organization, both Sydney and Tess were extremely hurt when they realized beginning in March of 2010 that they had been unknowingly supporting and promoting a group whose views were in direct contrast with their pro-life, pro-family, Christian views….

White House Middle East Policy–Spirit of antichrist arises
There was so much wrong-mindedness in the speech on Middle East policy delivered by the man who occupies the Oval Office that it is difficult to know where to begin. I urge every American to read it. The president of the United States for the fist time in history has embarked on a policy that will help reestablish an Islamic Caliphate in the name of self determination; will divide and reduce Israel’s sovereign land to the advantage of proven terrorists; and redirects American policy in the Middle East toward violence and upheaval–all in the name of peace and human rights. His words are ear tickling, yet dangerous as in Jeremiah 6:14 saying, “Peace, peace; when there is no peace.”

Where Are the Christian Churches When We Need Them Most?

by Mark R. Crovelli
One of the most important functions of religious faith, observed St. Thomas Aquinas, is to allow people of limited intelligence and people with limited time for study to know important truths about God without having to investigate them personally. After all, few ordinary people are in a position to spend years rationally investigating the tenets of their faith, so, if they are to have any chance at finding Truth during their lives, they need to have it prepackaged for them to swallow on faith alone with the assistance of the Church.

This infinitely wise observation is just as true today as it was in the thirteenth century, and the Christian churches would do well to remember it during these especially turbulent political and economic times. In fact, with the world’s masses aflame with revolutionary ideas at the very same time that governments are going bankrupt, the need has never been greater for the Christian churches to remind their unthinking, gullible, and emotional flocks of what is true and just and good. If they fail to do this, and right quick, there is a very real and dangerous possibility that the Christian masses will get swept away by exciting and profoundly immoral ideas that will doom Western civilization for the foreseeable future.

Specifically, the Christian masses desperately need to have the foundations of Christian ethics beaten into their dense skulls to keep them on the right path during these hours of intellectual temptation. Since many of the ideas floating around the world right now are both alluring and morally dangerous, the Christian masses need a simple set of criteria by which to judge what is right and what is wrong. Fortuitously, God was provident enough to provide Christians (and Jews and Muslims) with a list of ten moral criteria so undemanding that even the most intellectually challenged among them should be able to determine right from wrong….

God is Stirring “Israel’s Nest”
The events throughout the Middle East have a powerful Biblical meaning. God’s chosen Nation of Israel is yet, after 63 years, a nation riddled in disobedience. That disobedience must be broken and we are watching the early stages heading into the dark “Seven Years.” By the end of “The Great Tribulation” and the Antichrist’s sinister design, Israel will be ready to cry out to their Messiah in Repentance. Zechariah prophesied this mournful time as God’s betrothed nation returns to their birthright. “And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon Me Whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for his firstborn. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem…” (Zechariah 12:10-11a) …

Emerging spirituality is changing the way missions is being conducted. The idea is that you can go for Jesus, but you don’t have to identify yourself as a Christian or part of the Christian church. This concept spills over into some missionary societies too, where they teach people from other religions they can keep their religion, just add Jesus to the equation. They don’t have to embrace the term Christian. At the 2005 United Nations Interfaith Prayer Breakfast, Rick Warren made the following comments to 100 delegates who represented various different religions: ...

Is Ezekiel’s Army About to Face Off with the Arabs?
by Bill Salus
Approximately 2500-years ago the prophet Ezekiel envisioned a future valley filled with dry bones. His account is described in Ezekiel 37:1-13. It appears the dry bones represent the Jews in a holocaust condition dispersed throughout the nations of the world This conclusion can be safely suggested because Ezekiel 37:11-12 says,
Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’ Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

These passages clearly evidence that these bones represent the “whole house of Israel.” Furthermore, it pictures the Jews in a desperate condition. Their “hope is lost”, and they “are cut off.” Lastly, they are being restored “into the land of Israel,” meaning they were outside of the land of Israel during the vision….

Obama’s abandonment of America
By Caroline Glick
I was out sick yesterday so I was unable to write today’s column for the Jerusalem Post. I did manage to watch President Obama’s speech on the Middle East yesterday evening. And I didn’t want to wait until next week to discuss it. After all, who knows what he’ll do by Tuesday?
Before we get into what the speech means for Israel, it is important to consider what it means for America….

Patent Act Is Dangerous to U.S. Security

By Phyllis Schlafly
More and more dangerous effects of the proposed changes to U.S. patent law (S.23, H.R.1249) keep emerging, especially since the hearings failed to hear from any real inventors. The proposed bill is unconstitutional, an attack on our national security, and an offense against the rule of law….

Regime Change at the IMF: The Frame-Up of Dominique Strauss-Kahn?
By Prof. Michel Chossudovsky

A close look at China’s J-20 stealth fighter, by Washington think tank The Jamestown Foundation, calls the plane a “game changer,” that will render all air defense in the region obsolete.

With no refueling of the J-20, Japan, South Korea, and former Air Force bases in the Philippines will all be open to attack; with refueling, United States operations in Guam become easily acquired targets.

This capability allows China to take full control of both “island chains” that form the country’s self-defined, maritime defense perimeter.

The study suggests that J-20s will be the tactical equal of U.S. F-22A Raptors as well as F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, and be capable of delivering large “glide bombs” that will “remain unseen through the whole delivery maneuver, effecting complete surprise.”

With no radar arrays capable of picking up a stealth fighter, the J-20 will be undetectable to all air defense systems in the U.S., and on all its allied bases in the Asia-Pacific region….

Rabbi: ‘The President of the United States is Asking for Ethnic Cleansing’
By Fred Lucas
(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama has made an unprecedented demand on Israel, Jewish leaders said Thursday, after the president called for Israel to redraw its borders to where they were in 1967 before the Six Day War. One rabbi said Obama was, in essence, asking for “ethnic cleansing” of thousands of Jewish families….

Do Parents’ Rights End at the Schoolhouse Gate?

by John W. Whitehead
“There is no fundamental right of parents to be the exclusive provider of information regarding sexual matters to their children, either independent of their right to direct the upbringing and education of their children or encompassed by it. We also hold that parents have no due process or privacy right to override the determinations of public schools as to the information to which their children will be exposed while enrolled as students.” ~ Fields v. Palmdale School District PSD, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (2005)

Remember 1972 says the state

The New York State Office of Emergency Management (State OEM) today urged all New Yorkers and residents of Western New York in particular to begin preparing for the 2011 hurricane /coastal storm season by reviewing their family emergency plans and checking on emergency supplies they have at home and at work.
“A community’s level of preparedness begins with the individual,” said Andrew X. Feeney, Director of State OEM. “While State and local agencies continue to do everything possible to ensure that our response capabilities are as robust as possible, every resident has a responsibility to develop and practice plans to protect themselves, their families and property.” …

AARP Supported ObamaCare, Now Gets ObamaCare Waiver
No one seems to know what criteria HHS uses to grant or deny waivers to insurers from provisions in ObamaCare. The White House won’t release the names of those insurers and employers refused waivers or discuss denials at all. But maybe, just maybe, we could all agree that organizations that publicly pushed ObamaCare to approval should be ineligible to escape its consequences? …

Senate Votes to Boost FDA Police Powers With GOPs Help
Senate Passes Stealth Food-Safety Crime Bill
WASHINGTON – Republican senators joined Democrats last month in passing an under-the-radar measure, authored by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), to add more “teeth” to existing food law. On April 14, as Congress prepared to adjourn for a two-week recess, the Senate quietly approved S. 216: The Food Safety Accountability Act of 2011, legislation that would expand the reach of the Food and Drug Administration over food shipped across state lines, by enabling federal prosecutors to seek steep fines…….

Judicial Insanity in Indiana

Recently, a rather shocking “judicial opinion” was handed down by a bare majority of the Indiana Supreme Court, to the effect that it is supposedly illegal under Indiana’s “public policy” for any individual to resist an unlawful search, seizure, arrest, or other assault or detention by rogue law-enforcement officers (or, presumably, any other rogue public officials purporting to enforce, but actually violating, the law). Many people are rightly concerned that this decision will…….

Why Pupils Need Real Science, Not ‘Junk Science’
In visiting an ailing, 88-year-old relative at a nursing home last week, I saw an up-close-and-personal example of how most Americans, especially young adults, have zero handle on basic science. It was a small problem, but one with big results for the well-being of the patient, who was unable to make use of a “call cord” hooked up to a switch which alerted the nursing station that a bedridden resident needed help. Repeatedly advised to use the call cord when…..

A Metabolic Paradigm Shift, or Why Fat is the Preferred Fuel for Human Metabolism

by Mark Sisson
There’s a good reason so many people (mostly the sugar-burners, whose disparate group includes fruitarians, veg*ans, HEDers, body-builders, most MDs, the USDA and virtually every RD program in the country) can’t seem to grasp why a lower carb, Primal approach to eating is a better choice for health and fitness: their fundamental paradigm – the core theory that underpins everything else in that belief system – is flawed. They remain slaves to the antiquated notion that glucose is the king of fuels, so they live their lives in a fear of running low. The truth is, fat is the preferred fuel of human metabolism and has been for most of human evolution. Under normal human circumstances, we actually require only minimal amounts of glucose, most or all of which can be supplied by the liver as needed on a daily basis. The simple SAD fact that carbs/glucose are so readily available and cheap today doesn’t mean that we should depend on them as a primary source of fuel or revere them so highly. In fact, it is this blind allegiance to the “Carb Paradigm” that has driven so many of us to experience the vast array of metabolic problems that threaten to overwhelm our health care system….

10 Home Remedies for Acid Reflux
by Edward Group
Acid reflux is not a nice feeling. Food and acid splash into the esophagus (the muscular tube that takes food after swallowing into the stomach) causing uncomfortable reactions from belching to heartburn and in some severe cases, chest pains. Some individuals have experienced pain so intense they thought they were having a heart attack.

If a person experiences acid reflux on a regular basis, the acids will irritate the esophagus and this can advance to scarring, ulceration, inflammation and hemorrhaging.

According to authors and doctors F. Balch, M.D. and Mark Stengler, N.D., if acid reflux persists for a very long period of time is may even lead to esophageal cancer….
