Dutch anti-Islam politician’s speech trial resumes
By TOBY STERLING, Associated Press – Wed Apr 13, 8:20 am ET

AMSTERDAM – The hate speech trial of Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders resumed Wednesday with defense lawyers seeking to discredit a judge who ordered the lawmaker to face trial on charges of inciting hatred against Muslims.

Romans 11:17-19 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.

Matthew 18:26 The servant therefore fell down, and WORSHIPPED HIM, SAYING, LORD, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

Matthew 18:26 “The servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’

The Church of England issued a prayer for Prince William and Kate Middleton last Thursday in advance of the young couple’s April 29th wedding. The prayer petitions God through Jesus Christ for William and Kate’s lifelong faithful union. The people of England may or may not serve God through Jesus Christ, but the national church does claim Him. In the meanwhile, in China and Zimbabwe, police raided the prayer services of congregations who gathered in the name of Jesus. While religious freedom remains on paper in many countries of the world, there is little freedom in reality.

Journalists Rub Elbows with Terror-Friendly Middle East Dictatorship
Media figures David Gregory of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” David Brooks of The New York Times, Fareed Zakaria of CNN’s “GPS,” Margaret Warner of PBS’s “Newshour,” and Riz Khan of Al-Jazeera English are among the speakers at the eighth Annual U.S.-Islamic World Forum in Washington, D.C. this week. The event is “held in partnership” with Qatar, the Middle East dictatorship that funds and sponsors the terror channel Al-Jazeera and has links to al-Qaeda. The forum is co-sponsored by…….

Cold Warrior From Berkeley?
By Malcolm A. Kline
Believe it or not, a Berkeley sociologist recently offered a surprisingly clear-eyed and coherent assessment of Communist China. Nevertheless, Berkeley sociology professor Thomas B. Gold did start off a March 2011 lecture at the University of Pennsylvania about the way that you would expect a tenured prof from that august institution to begin such a talk.

By Paul Driessen
The ground hadn’t stopped shaking. Tsunami waters had not receded. And yet coverage of this awful natural disaster – a scene of almost unfathomable devastation and death – was already giving way to single-minded focus on radiation exposure and meltdowns.
Addressing justifiable concerns is essential, to allay fears and refocus attention on finding the missing, burying the dead, helping 450,000 displaced people, and rebuilding ravaged communities.

Connect them to their ethnic communities? This is more of the poison promoted as multiculturalism that has been destroying a unified Republic for decades. Reach out to the world for employees when the State of Ohio has a 9.2% unemployment rate? Yeah, there’s some mention about local employees, but this one gets the gag factor for today.

Republican Budget Cuts Threaten ‘Life-Affirming’ Public Radio Station in KY
The New York Times vs. any and all spending cuts: “But with the rise of the Tea Party and with anti-earmark, budget-cutting fervor gripping the nation’s capital, little of that sentiment is being expressed today, especially by Republicans.”

Tavernise Pines for D.C. Voting Rights, Autonomy on Abortion and School Vouchers
Washington, D.C., a victim of Republican “tinkering”: “But for this city, which raises $5 billion in tax revenue each year but does not have the final say over how to spend it, the compromise – which restores a ban on the use of local taxpayer money for abortions – served as a bitter reminder of its powerlessness….Republican lawmakers say they tinker mostly because they can.”

Adam Nagourney Rides to Defense of Harry Reid’s ‘Cowboy Poets’

Adam Nagourney: “That once-obscure gathering became a target in the budget battle a world away in Washington last week, employed by conservatives as a symbol of fiscal waste…setting off a conflagration of conservative scorn….the amount of taxpayer money going to the Cowboy Poetry Gathering, which has met since 1985, is someplace between small and minuscule….Yet no matter. The Cowboy Poetry Gathering has been mocked by Sarah Palin on Twitter, most recently on Friday, and on Rush Limbaugh’s show.”

Matt Bai: ‘Something Awesome’ About Sitting Next to Liberal Titan Mario Cuomo
Matt Bai, chief political correspondent for the Times Magazine: “If you were a kid in the Northeast during the 1980s, as I was, there is something awesome – in the literal sense – about sitting across a desk from Mario Cuomo….the anti-Reagan, a powerful and resonant voice of dissent in the age of ‘Top Gun’ and Alex P. Keaton. Cuomo, Ted Kennedy and Jesse Jackson were the three titans of the day who seemed to possess the defiance needed to rescue liberalism from obsolescence.”

Students: You Are Exploited Debt-Serfs

by Charles Hugh Smith

Students and parents, wake up: your only salvation lies in political engagement and action.

Of all the exploitative systems in the U.S., none is more rapacious than the Education Cartel. Like the proverbial frog that is unaware that it’s being boiled because the water temperature rises so gradually, college students and their parents are unable to recall what higher education was like before students were herded into debt-serfdom.

Apologists for the Education Cartel like to blame Corporate America or the banks, but the reality is that the Federal and State governments and the employees of the Cartel are willing partners in the exploitation and fraud. How did we get to the boiling-water point where students are expected to take on $100,000 or more in debt to attend college – even a mediocre one?

Answer: immensely profitable Government-backed loans. If the Central State wasn’t partnered with the Education Cartel, today’s debt-serfdom would be impossible….

Fortifying Yourself and Your Home Against Crime

by Chris Martenson
In my first post on crime, I urged you to accept the reality of the criminal threat and to mentally choose not to allow yourself to be easily victimized. Hopefully, you’re reading this second post because you’ve sworn off the denial, distraction and passivity that characterizes most people and decided to do whatever you reasonably can to protect yourself, your family and your home. If this mindset of yours is authentic and deeply felt, you’re more than halfway to your goal.

Your next step is to form a self-protection plan. Helping you do that is the purpose of this second post. “Self-protection” is too large of a subject so I’ve narrowed it down to something you can reasonably take on in the near future: fortifying your home and yourself against crime. I’m going to focus on three types of crimes because your plans to defend against all three are closely related….

Stormtroopers and Child-Snatchers

by William Norman Grigg
Ariana Goldboldo, a mentally handicapped 13-year-old, was abducted from her home at gunpoint on March 24. Her captors have systematically poisoned her through injections of a dangerous psychoactive drug. There is also reason to believe that Ariana, who has reportedly tested positive for an STD, has been molested during her time in captivity.

Ariana’s mother, Maryanne, made a valiant but futile effort to protect her daughter. As a result, she may end up in prison. If this happens, Ariana almost certainly won’t survive….

Classroom Discipline: Why Don’t Students Respect Their Teachers?

by Jeremiah Dyke
The purpose of this short article is to survey the discipline problem within the public school system keeping in mind the over-arching question of why students seem to no longer respect their teachers. At the end of the article, educators will find links to unorthodox advice to aid them in their discipline problems. Now, as a disclaimer, I would like to warn you that I loved a loud classroom when I taught at public schools. Anyone who observed my classroom would attest that it was anything but silent (or what other might label a disciplined classroom). Furthermore, I’m sure I allowed many actions that other teachers didn’t; it’s just not in my nature to like authority. Thus, I come to you as the glutton offering you great advice on how to lose weight….

US Senate May Move to Enact Internet Sales Tax
by Ryan Whitwam
According to Cnet, one US Senator is preparing to introduce legislation that would radically alter online commerce. The bill would end the ability of Americans to buy goods from online retailers free from state sales tax. Democrat Dick Durbin of Illinois is expected to present the bill shortly after the Easter recess.

The Pipeline Paradox
Why is the United States helping Iran sell natural gas?
Despite the harsh sanctions imposed on it by the United States and United Nations, Iran continues to steadily accumulate geopolitical clout. Many commentators point to the fact that the cascading series of revolutions in the Middle East has given the region’s Shiite communities, which are allied with Iran, greater influence. But even more important is Tehran’s recent success in strengthening its role as an indispensable international energy supplier. By focusing on financial sanctions rather than the Islamic Republic’s plans to become a global energy superpower, Washington policymakers have enabled Iran’s rise….

MSNBC’s Matthews Rants: Paul Ryan’s Plan Will ‘Kill Half the People Who Watch This Show’

While discussing Paul Ryan’s plan for Medicare on Monday, Hardball host Chris Matthews smeared the Republican congressman, trashing his idea as something that is “going to kill half the people who watch this show.” Matthews, along with liberal guests Howard Fineman and Richard Wolffe dismissed Ryan’s reform goals. Fineman hyperventilated, “The good thing for the president is the Paul Ryan Medicare plan, because it makes people angry. And, first of all, it scares seniors.” The cable anchor lobbied, “Yes. Well, it should.”

Congress: Gray Wolf Not Endangered
President Obama once said he would restore integrity to science, but apparently he and Congress have higher priorities: Included in the $38
billion budget deal was a rider removing the gray wolf from the endangered species list. It’s the first time Congress has ever taken
such an action rather than entrusting it to a science-based federal agency. “Now, anytime anybody has an issue with an endangered species,
they are going to run to Congress and try to get the same treatment the anti-wolf people have gotten,” says one environmentalist. The rider also
prohibits judicial review of the delisting. Senators John Tester and Mike Simpson pushed to remove the wolf, so that farmers in their state could hunt them.

A Russian-made anti-tank missile hit a school bus in Israel last Thursday, demonstrating that Russian weapons have made their way into the hands of Hamas. Russia is also once again loading nuclear fuel into the reactor at Iran’s Bushehr Power Plant on the Persian Gulf. Iran and Russia are cooperating on development of both nuclear power and oil and natural gas resources. Russia’s top leaders met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the end of March as an attempt to strengthen Israel-Russian relations, yet Russia has long proved willing to cooperate with Israel’s enemies.

One of the major problems with cancer treatments is that the drugs used to fight cancer cells can often harm healthy cells as well. Getting cancer treatment to kill the cancer without killing the patient has long proved a painful task. In separate research efforts, researchers at Purdue University and Polytechnique Montreal are taking advantage of advances in the technology-of-the-tiny to deliver cancer drugs directly to target cancerous cells.

BRICS summit offers watershed moment for large emerging economies
Christopher Bodeen, Associated Press
SANYA, China (AP) — The leaders of the world’s largest emerging economies gather this week in southern China for what could be a watershed moment in their quest for a bigger say in the global financial architecture.
Thursday’s summit comes at a crucial moment for the expanded five-member bloc known as the BRICS, which groups Brazil, Russia, India, China, and, for the first time, South Africa.
